Whatever became of the update week long policy? Seems Microsoft let's the consumer test the patches that fixes their prior mistakes.
Here's hoping you don't get bit. Just in case, read the article. (another reason to stick w/Windows 10?)

Disabling updates isnt a good ploy, then again downloading and installing patches isnt a bright idea either,

Since I switched to Windows 11 two weeks back, if I leave my pc alone on boot and lock it does a lot of switching on and off and restarts. Then pretends "Nope wasnt me I didnt do anything apart from .............."

Seeing as all support for Windows 10 goes bye bye on 25th October 2025 you just have to hope that your install is as complete as it can be.

Then again I got a surprise on a laptop I bought last year from Lenovo, came with Win 11 Pro on it and I now get messages "Your installation has reached END OF LIFE, please consider buying Windows 11 Pro" gives link to MS website.

Wont update to 24H2, I cant say i am impressed.

i finally jumped on the 11 wagon and updates sucked i only do gaming (BF 2042) and to stop updates i made a batch file

net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop dosvc

then made a task and set to on start up to run batch file also selected repeat every 5 mins, since running this win 11 is mint as, i then installed the atlas OS mod to debloat the system this got me down to 78 processes and installed the few apps i use

pot player
solidworks 2023
office 2005 with files format converters for docx and xlxs
freetube
ea and BF 2042
thorium portable
hasleo backup
Emsisoft emergency kit (free antivirus checker)

all up on on 112 processes when booted, windows is way faster than my win 10 22H2 setup and i have disabled the realtime protection via Gpedit. im not doing sketchy stuiff like i used to TPB wares so this setup works for me,i no longer need to run portmaster to keep microsoft out of the system as the atlas mod sorts telemetry out amongst other microsoft invasive behaviors best workround ive done to date

Microsoft !! INVASIVE !!! NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I cant believe you said that

Has to be said the bloatware level on the Win 11 install on mine is very low. Only three things that were annoying Ive king of disabled seeing as they would get used when I get married again (LMAO) never happen.

As for performance, I cant say the performance increase is down to windows 10 11 jump, but it certainly cracks on and has better speed features than 10 ever had.

And heres something that made me smile. I can play Splinter Cell pandora tomorrow (first full RT software I borrowed) I love Micheal Ironsides dry humour and the cheesy game play from the 2000's . And heres what surprises me about it, IT DOESNT NEED TO BE PLAYED UNDER COMPATABILITY. So as far as it goes, for now windows 11 gets athumbs up.

FOR NOW...............................

I am just waiting for the bomb go off in most commercial enterprises. Every one I have seen continues with the mentality, "If it ain't broke, don't fi it". True but Microsoft doesn't see it that way.
I did a couple of trials for a few businesses and they are going to have some big surprises in the near future. So many places have laid off their IT support people in the past year. I am dying to see the mad scramble come this fall. Many of these places have patched up drivers and software that allowed them to run Win 10 during the last conversion. That poop may not flush when the mandatory conversion busts down their front door.
Everything in US business is getting by on minimal support salaries to boost the bottom line. When stuff grinds to a halt or moves on unprotected, let's see how things go. Chainsaw wielding Monkey Boy is a great example. If anyone else hasn't noticed there has been a huge spike in international cybercrime lately, cryptocurrency has made it so easy to conceal. With respect for the US by all major companies slipping away at a feverish pitch, don't expect other major governments to come to our aid.

-Woof!
