I am watching Cloudflare slowly becoming more and more involved into day to day Internet activities. For example the VPN blacklist IP subscription, updated constantly. It wouldn't bother me if they were more transparent into their activities and services to the average user.
For many the lure of being the fastest DNS service have drawn many away from Google's DNS. At least Google has been forthcoming of what they do and do not do with DNS queries to their server vs. Cloudflare that gives you some blah, blah but doesn't really spell that out in their TOS that isn't required to use their DNS. So there are two instances, who knows what else they do with your info? Keep in mind it costs them money to provide the DNS to it must generate some kind of income.
In 2025 I would keep a close eye on Cloudflare, they have to be looking to capitalize on their investments. Google already does however they are more forthcoming and do offer you a way to opt-out. The EU must be starting to take a look at Cloudflare so stay tuned. Google has the ability capitalize on the user but spells that out rather understandably.
