Emby - Emby Movie Server Software

Emby has two distinct parts:

  • Server Store your media library in a central place
  • Client Clients or Apps that play back media from the Emby Server
A fully-functioning Emby system requires both a Server and at least one client player. The Server includes the Emby web app which is used to manage the Server and your media library. The hub of my TV system is currently a 2nd gen Fire Cube. The only thing that would make me consider and upgrade is AV1 support. I get most of my programming from the usual Internet sources. I did install a decent antenna in the attic for ATSC 1.0/3.0 OTA live programming.
I am wondering how this would work with my setup. Currently I rely on the VLC interface for library duties on my NAS. Plex is just to awkward and complex for my current needs.
If Emby can interface with my setup I'd like to give it a try.

Give it a try, it works without registration.. They also have a portable version have fun.

I need to overhaul my setup. My 2nd fire Cube is starting to show it's age. I may retain my storage setup and setup a network connected DAS stack and use an independent source for stored video and decoding. The alleged ACEMAGIC I won in a drawing. ACEMAGIC says its quite capable and it has a Win 11 pro license in the BIOS. I would need software like this to manage the current video volumes. Well I have some figuring to do, should be interesting.
