So far today Ive had 9 calls pretty much the same:-
"WHY IS MY PC STILL WORKIN ON WINDOWS 10, IVE BEEN TOLD TO UPGRADE OR BUY A NEW ONE"

Windows 10 is going to be with us for many many years to come. What isnt going to be there is support from Microsoft for the OS. Or is THERE......

Since the inception of the NEW TYPE FILE SYSTEM (NTFS) for data hangling which go rid of (File Allocation Table) size issues, as we all know bigger is better. Except it isnt really better, for most things. (sings "IT AINT WHAT YOU DO ITS THE WAY THAT YOU DO IT, THATS WHAT GETS RESULTS"} NT4 OS came out and the hard drives found out what work was by having monster file sizes thrown at it.

Anywho. With WIndows 10 now officially ABANDONWARE as are the other former Operating Systems by Microsoft, until of course someone starts to make a mint off the old OS then all of a sudden Microsoft will pounce, saying "Its our operating system etc etc etc"

So for those of you wanting to know when your WIndows 10 system will collapse and die, well im glad to say that it wont. Those who want to go and grab a copy of the microsoft windows 10 iso image now, its online till November 12th 2025 then it will go missing

go grab a copy for your archive. History shows its gone from a crap unsupported nighmare of aN OS into one of the worlds most stable and worked with system.

And of course we will continue to support it for time to come.

Let's face it, third party security programs provide much better protection than the after the fact Microsoft "security releases". Win 2000 hung on for quite some time after it was retired. Microsoft was just adding window dressing to make Win 11 look more desirable. Let's not forget for a fee you can still get these security patches for 365 more days for Win 10.
my only input was I found the graphical interface clunky and a PIA to become familiar with. The learning curve is over and the one system I was holding back, now 10's interface was confusing now so the tide has turned, who knew?
I am with Digeulo on this one.
I would like to mention that Microsoft has promised a streamlined replacement for NTFS for over a decade now. I would rather have that than ali the nonsense that has been highly touted for Win 11.

Mr Dog is quite correct about 2000 hanging on.

To my knowledge up until 2017 a lot of companies and infrastructure services were still happy using the system and also Im pleased to say hng onto WIndows 7 for dear life in some cases.

I know of companies today that still run 2000 server and love it and the old office system. I even have a working copy of Office 97 and it still writes great letters and only the Outlook part is at fault in it.

Security, again Mr Dog is perfectly correct and the third party protection far outweighs anything that MS have put out there since pre 99. Norton used to hold flag for the best stuff, but nowadays its hard to pick the best. Just go with the flavour you like the most.

Go with your feelings folks. If you like WIndows 10 and it does the job for you now, then stick with it.

I should point out to all and to prevent scam companies telling you itll cost £9000 to upgrade. Windows 11 upgrade is FREE, BUKSHEE, to all registered WIndows 10 account installations. The most flawed aspect of it is that you need to have a Trusted Program Module (TPM) installed on your computer. The plug in chip costs about £10 GBP off Amazon and just needs pluging into your desktop motherboard. As for laptops, ive yet to find a working solution for this issue.

The Microsoft update page is going to be left up for years to come and has a software check program you can use for free. YES FREE, no matter what the guy on the phone says its free.

Windows 10 gear is still going to be on the market for years, old stock generally gets updated. So remember if anyone tries to scam you out of your hard earned bucks for WIndows 11 upgrades the transfer is free. If your computer is able to run it. After all its got 11 on the box this year.

And for those interested the next incarnation of the Windows NT4 update is in the pipeline and will be open for Beta about mid 2026. Title to be WIndows 12, WIndows XII, or just Microsoft Incarnation Whatever.
