i have Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen (8th Gen Intel processor), i installed windows 11 on it but its lagging because of the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime app. it doesnt lag with webview2 version 90 but but ths version makes it impossible to run some apps well. hgher webview versio runs apps well but it lags when browsing and when not browsing but doing other stuff with other apps opened.

my questions are:

1. which version of webview2 can run well and not make it lag

2. if there isnt any, should i downgrade to windows 10 and hope webview2 on windows 10 wont make it lag.

any help is appreciated

thanks

Sound like you have minimal resources. I have a beast system, so don't have these issues.

When I used a lower capable or Laptop System, I would install Bitsum Process Lasso and used it instead of Task manager, after installation I would set Process Lasso from the "main" tab upper left to performance enabled. Then I go to "Edit Power Plan" and set it so it does not go to sleep, then set it when I close the lid it does nothing, and when I press the sleep does nothing. The reason for these steps is to eliminate those memory resources. Most everything ran smooth after that.

I would dump Edge period. There are so many other better choices out there, Chromium powered, Mozilla. Give those others a try. Ever since I.E. was discontinued, Microsoft has yet to get back on it's feet with a browser.
Don't forget every browser is trying to sell your time to ad agencies, etc. At least DuckDuckGo is entirely forthcoming with that info. All that tracking requires overhead. How's the RAM usage on your system? If the page file is constantly being utilized that will slow the browsing speed significantly. Think Pads until recently had about a 20GB RAM physical limitation for a long time.

Points at DVR_Dog, what he said.

Microsoft edge or as I like to think of it the browser the US uses to spy on everyone..........

Personal recommendation for Browsing:-
Firefox, Fast useful and easy on the eye.
Opera, includes a free VNS if you need it and a pro version if you really need it. Unless you live in the UK. our Government doesnt like privacy.

DONT USE EDGE OR IE.

And personally Im finding myself killing off anything AI at the moment.

Everyone does understand that Edge is Chromium-powered? Using the same engine? That Firefox does in fact contain telemetry and tracking?
That not even one of the many available browsers is actually trustworthy?
