I have been reluctant to begin the Windows 11 conversion but it seems inevitable at this point.
Part of my problem is every employer I had for the most part hasn't done any serious planning for the conversion. There are lots of time bombs waiting out there.
Businesses are reluctant to move with the times. Usually the find a program that may be 20 years old now and keep it going. The entire staff and management know the program, it suits (or sort of) their needs and THEY AREN'T GOING TO UPGRADE OR CHANGE.
Sound familiar to the members who are IT staff on an existing company. I was scared at my last job. The entire staff had been there forever and really didn't know the ramifications of program compatibility, how much hardware had to be junked, and how to train the company staff in using Windows 11. Good luck to them. I suspect as October 2025 gets closer the panic will set in. I consider myself better prepared that anyone else I had worked with.
Thank goodness I have a good system of backing things up on my network. It will allow me to refresh my programs to the latest versions. I just have to get used to those stupid icons and their placement. It won't take long, I already have my workstation and my ThinkPad up to speed. The GF primarily uses her current gen iPad with the keyboard integrated into the case. She does rely on the super thin Dell XPS I gave her for stuff she has to have a Windows platform to accomplish.
So my fellow members, what are your thoughts as October 2025 approaches? Pleas don't be shy. All opinions welcome.
