I own a TP-Link 6 router that I turned into an access point. I replaced the TP-Link as a router a long time ago. I replaced it with an enterprise grade 2.5Ghz router. The enterprise router gives me great control of what is coming and going and filter certain types of traffic.
I am reluctant to replace the TP-Link AP. It provides a full speed connection any place in my home.
So I understand the confusion that what is being rumored about. As that article states in tests, the security of the TP-Link is similar to the other competitive brands.

So where do our members here think? Are you going to ditch your TP-Link equipment and replace it with another brand of hardware and toss the TP-Link or is it a wait and see? Quite a confusing problem. One thing TP-link has always been the lower if not the lowest price in it's category, so a trade up may be costly.

I tossed TP-Link a long time ago, LOL

Tp link offers some cheap routers and AP. They usually work just fine.
TP-Link holds 40% of the aftermarket router market in the US. Twain and India have also issued security concerns in the past. I imagine part of the concern is TP-Link flooding these markets with hardware priced way below the competitors Issues mentioned were the slow response to documented security concerns to the more paranoid China is saturating the market with hardware with built-in secret back doors. For what purposes that would be used is beyond me.
Part of it makes sense and has me wondering why TP-Link can produce hardware so drastically lower in price. Hard call to make. It may be a mute point if the US Dept. of Commerce bans their sale.
