In case you haven't noticed, our old friend Google seems to be selling us down the road. Granted for many years innovation drove Google, not profits. On top of that Google has become a fat pig that has become a target of DMCA lawsuits. So anything under the Alphabet has become more of a way for them to capitalize on their users first and try to sell it to advertisers given the web traffic numbers. Well those were the good old days. Google has had huge layoffs and they are content to try and milk the biggest returns out of their existing platform.
Unfortunately it boils down to two things. Google has begun censuring and peppering search engine results, it's becoming more obvious each day. I myself have begun the exodus away from their products. I personally am trying out a couple of alternative searches, namely DuckDuckGo and Brave's integrated search. Of course neither one is a charity (like this forum, thanks Thumper!), but there are straightforward and honest ways of doing so.
My ex was bugging me for years to dump Gmail, I have begun the process. Look no one runs a service that has no cost to them. If that means replacing selling my info by charging reasonable fees, so be it.
I am just getting started on this project. This morning I noticed Google search results were kind of funny looking so I tried DuckDuckGo and saw what was being withheld by Google. Oh well. An old friend of mind, very smart, her daddy was a renowned scientist and inventor swore by dogpile, I haven't been in touch with her for years unfortunately. She always insisted get a few opinions on a search.
TikTok is pure evil BTW. It has nothing to do with the Chinese ownership. One of my very best friends parents were forced to migrate from China to Vancouver when Chairman Mao took power the were University academics and possibly would have been executed. Chinese are not bad people searching for world domination. Now TikTok is multi-national evil. I would warn our members to stay away no matter how entertaining you feel it may be.
Be your own self out there on the Interweb. It's getting harder every day as parts of it are vying to control you in so many ways. Be yourself, think for yourself and be proud of who you are. You don't need group affirmation, your own thoughts and actions should be a source of your pride. My friend Steve told me time and time again, always do the right thing, do that and you win at being a decent human being. Deep down if you were raised properly (or not) that little voice is there, not on TikTok or elsewhere on the 'Net.
