I would like this thread to be comprehensive enough to cover all aspects of IT. I am an old man but when I asked in a place that was introduced to me as the Knowing room: I asked about MBR and GUI I put my question as clear as I could and was met with a blank face. Although they were young about 35ish they had no idea about hard drive variations. I found the answer on Google. I would like this site to try and help all aspects of computers and address IT please.

What are your questions? We all try to answer them. :)

"Google" is a powerful tool to help every IT specialist on the world.
When I don't have an answer for my questions, I always ask google. Or bing.

Years ago there use to be a piece of software called "Ghost" it was to image your "C" drive at whatever stage you had with whatever software you had installed. You could save the image to another H/D and reload it if any problems occurred. (malware, Virus, etc) I have tried some that are on the market place but nothing is as good or easy as Ghost. Does anyone know of any program that is similar or does what I want. I want to image a h/d please

when I got you, you want to make an image of a HDD ? there are more than one way, either with dism, that's from Microsoft itself, or you use a soft- or freeware of your wishes to create an ISO.

Norton Ghost still exists. There are many, many programs available.
It sounds like for your purposes Microsoft has built in a couple of features that usually will buy you out of trouble that nothing short of a complete disk wipe and reinstall would do.

I don't believe in reinventing the wheel (or copy and pasting) so let me point you to a couple of Microsoft instructions to troubleshoot and fix problems you might encounter.
Recovery options in Windows

Create a recovery drive

Here's some good info to start with. If you want to actually mirror a hard drive as a backup or to deploy to many systems of the same model, Ghost or it's counterparts are good.
If you are looking for backup please don't forget to backup your important files, somewhere off site (the cloud) using Google Drive. Microsoft One Drive or a paid subscription service regularly. There are programs available with some setup work will automatically back up files inside folders you designate.
I am just trying to give you some good places to start or at least to get you thinking. Come on back and ask questions or just come back anyway.
