Windows XP support has ended - Microsoft Support

Upgrade to Windows 10? I tnought Win 10 was already scheduled for EOL? Win XP, is anyone still using it? Granted Win 8 was a complete flop, Win 10 isn't bad. XP was that transition from MS DOS a very long time ago.

I don't use it but I do still have a copy of XP Pro. I gamed on it for many years.

Hey don't get me wrong, XP although it had some gowing pains was a huge leap. Namely the NTFS file system change was awesome. Gone were so many blue screens as XP had far better memory management. NTFS is getting old, almost 30 years. Microsoft has been promising a new file system for at least 10 years now. Win 11 is the same old song with some new restrictions and some gizmos. Granted the business community is looking for a stable Office platform but what about the rest of us?

I thought NTFS got thrown in the mix with NT4 / windows 2000 side of things. All my XP Machines were run on DOS format. Back then there was a lot to be said for the little CMD Black screen of "Sort the issue out before it went blue" I used to have a VM of it that never once crashed or messed up. Ditto with Windows ME, that worked perfectly once youd extracted the missing system files and dare I say this MSCORE.DLL out of the installation zips. I loved the Space Battle pinball.
The NTFS side I always found to be glitchy in NT4 and W2K, win2K worked fine on DOS never had an issue with it. Good enough for the RAF to still be using it in 2010

I wouldn't wat to use XP now but I'll always have good memories. Back then it was the best thing since sliced bread.

My only time of diving back into the realm of XP is to play the old games i loved back then. I had an XP machine until the motherboard decided to junk some power control chip and fried it rather than failed safe.

I would like to get a reliable download link for the last fully updated version of XP 3 or ME there used to be a site with all updates from XP version 1 onwards on it, but not seen it in ages.
