I downloaded win10 v1903 ISO torrent to see if it really does work in my HP before I buy it. HP says it does, but they often dont know what they talk about,.

So, I want to burn a DVD installation, but the readme in the dnlded iso says:

Instructions:
1) Run as administrator Rufus USB Tool and make USB bootable
2) Install windows 10
3) Disable windows defender then extract OnlineKMS.rar and activate your windows
DONE!
You can always thank us here: www.TheWindowsForum.com / www.ThumperDC.com

exe and rar in iso images scare me. is this ok?

Hi,

Simple burn ISO to CD or USB, and install it, google how to install windows 10 if you need help.

Exe and rar files r an easy way to hide a virus or other bad things. Why would the crack even need to b put in a rar?

OK well sit back be quiet and read. I can see you have a lot to learn grasshopper.
To begin with don't come storming into a forum and start accusing someone of spreading a virus. First off all you have done is prove to the members here you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about. Besides that it's just plain offensive and you aren't going to win any friends.
With that out of the way there are a couple of issues going on here.
#1 The Win 10 ISO you downloaded has a compressed file. In that compressed archive is the activator program. The reason it's delivered in that form is Windows 10 by default has Windows Defender A/V enabled. M/S isn't happy about that activator and as soon as Win Defender gets a whiff of it it will destroy that file. Hence that's why the third instruction in the install file reads : "3) Disable windows defender then extract OnlineKMS.rar and activate your windows". Understand? Get used to seeing situations like that. A/V program authors like to go after cracks and patches when they identify them it's an industry thing. If you have any doubts there is an online A/V service "virus total". Do a search for it. OK Got it now? Let's move on.
#2 If your HP whatever was sold with either Windows 7 or Windows 8 (8.1) you are going through some needless pain. You can install Win 10 on your HP whatever and the copy will validate. Depending what O/S your HP whatever was sold with either use the key on the Win 7 COA attached to your HP whatever if it's is Win 7 OR during the install select I don't have a key during the Win 10 install and Win 10 will look into your BIOS where the key is embedded for Win 8 or 8.1. I don't know the type or model of your HP whatever but HPs get most if not all of the drivers during the install. That would be the only problem you would encounter. The only thing I could recommend is you need at least 4 GB of RAM and 8 GB is preferred in the latest versions of Windows 10. That is if you choose to install the 64 bit version which everyone here will recommend.
--> Now here's the big hint. Since you can do a legal install on your HP whatever don't play around with torrents. Do a search for Windows 10 download and download the latest ISO from M/S. Fewer updates and you can quiet your paranoia. If you do find you are missing a driver try installing the previous Windows versions from HP. That almost always works except in rare circumstances.

So there you go. I have given you a heck of an education. Now behave the next time you enter a forum. Remember the old adage "You can catch a whole lot more flies with sugar than shit"

I didn't accuse anyone. I didn't even know if the author listed in that txt file was really correct, so I came here to find out. I think that is kinda obvious.

I thought it was common knowledge that exe and compressed files r easy place to hide malicious code by those who like to cause trouble.

1903 is the latest my HP updates too. HP says that's the latest supported by my hp computer hardware. I'm tired of removing all that bloatware at each install, so I'm looking into several alternatives, including using fresh start, if it's not disabled by HP.

Huh? Who told you your HP couldn't run any newer versions. I load a ton a varied models of HPs all day long and I never heard of such a restriction. What's the model and what version of Windows was installed on your system. I don't know where you are getting your info from, HP forums? lol You can load 2004 no problem. If there's a problem the feature that's in question won't be loaded. I am posting this from a HP Micro ProDesk desktop running 2004 that left the factory with Win 7. It's only 1.4 x 7 x 6.9 inches a cute little guy. Just get and load the ISO from M/S and stop thinking HP forums are a good guide for anything. As you have found there three responses are 1. You can't do that. 2. Return the system for warranty replacement. 3. Your system is dead. You should consider buying a new system that's under warranty from HP. I am not shitting you. Watch the threads on their forum where people come with troubles. It's a joke. They are more concerned with making HP look good, sell new hardware rather than really helping you out. That's what places like this are for.

This discussion seems a bit heated :)

If you just want to know if that PC will run win10 v1903 as you said

Than you don't need to be afraid of anything, just burn that iso file on DVD and install it, you don't have to activate with KMS to know if it's supported.

BTW - HP has a list of products witch were tested on WIN10 - just try to use google: HP products tested with Windows 10 (voala)

That makes no sense.

Which part doesn't make sense?
A) Mount burned ISO and isntall Windows
B) HP has a list of products that has been tested on WIN10
A or B?

Both. If I have concern that it has virus or other bad things, I should just use it?

I indicated that HP informed me that it just supports 1903. (Useing the list u mentioned) So I could go back and look at that same list again, maybe it did change in the last few days.

I literally wrote that you don't have to use any activation (OnlineKMS.rar) if you just want to test it. And if you are scared that this ISO (image of the installation of Windows) you downloaded is a threat to your PC, than do as DVDR_Dog wrote earlier and download that ISO from M/S instead of torrent site.

And about lists from HP: if they told you what is literally written in the list, than it should be right :)

I did get that dnld iso file from ms. I tried to dvd it and I did try to dvd this thread iso, but win10 DVD burner does not support iso that needs more then one DVD. I searched online for best free burner apps and none say if they do this. I asked two and they said try it and find out. Really, the burner contact us says try it and find out. No thank u. Either it was intentionally made to support this or not. They should know.

HP does have app in computer that let's u make iso of the install file on partition on hdd. That allowed for me to make 3 disk dvd install disk. However special inst to install it, cuz it is win10 as modified by HP.

I then did the fresh start and it worked. Right away it was 1903, so I'm not really sure if it was from the hdd or direct from ms. Then I did Ms updates, then it told me it would update to 1909 if I clicked, so I clicked and I'm now 1909 and all seams fine. Looks like a new install w/o any HP bloatware. I'm not sure if I can get the hp drivers or if I even need to. One of the hp bloatwares is for drivers, so I might install that. I've always in the past insisted on recommended drivers, but maybe I really don't need to if all runs well.

IF all runs well, than congratz!
WIN10 will download majority of drivers itself, so there should be no problem at all. Even if something appears, it can be solved by downloading the driver from the official website.

cheers

Just write it into google, there is some guide on site intowindows.com for installing windows 7 Aero theme for win10. It's more than half a year when I tried that one, hope it will still work fine ;-)

i just use the dark theme on windows 10
it just isn't worth the effort
gray is fine
lol
i know, boring, but really; you'll get over it

can i install win7 theme in win10 v1903 like win10 v1703
Why? Do you really care? I do get calls to install all those silly Win 7 games. People get addicted to them I suppose. It's a sad world sometimes.

bad enough being addicted to PoE
i used to play those games, got real good at minesweeper
my buddy got 7 seconds, so i had to do one-up him; got 3 seconds
he quit
