More and more sites are either blacklisting or requiring that pain in the ass Captcha verification. Someone must be maintaining a pretty extensive list of VPN IP addys. Granted VPNs are useful for torrents, keeping your IP from being disclosed from users but that's about it. I couldn't imagine embedding your router with a VPN addy, what a pain to work around it.
Now you would be stupid to think that criminals aren't hiding behind VPNs but given the recent bitcoin ID breeches by authorities, if they want you bad enough, they can find you. I am on a super cheap recurring plan with one VPN and another was complimentary with my Usenet subscription. Both of them are routinely blocked by many sites so I really doubt if I would shell out full price for a VPN just to have it blocked so often.
