Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>Could you try to create a fake version.dll file using Notepad and place it in C:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast<br/>
<br/>
Then run the tool again, as Administrator.</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>why is it necessary to enable windows firewall forever?</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>Because it blocks Avast from doing external license checks.</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<r>Download from attachment<br/>
<br/>
Note: you need to un-pack [unrar] before you put it on AVAST folder! <E>;)</E></r>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>Thanks Thumper for the file. But i'm still having trouble. I extracted the file using winrar to my desktop. Then i cut and pasted the file to my AVAST folder, which reads as this= C: Program files/ Alwil Software/ Avast4.<br/>
In the Avast4 folder i right clicked and pasted the file you uploaded. Proceeded to close everything out and then ran as ADMIN your Avast activato r. But still when i press Activate, the message "Avast Self-Defense module is enable. Please disable it" comes up. What am i doing wrong here?????</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>OK Thumper, Maybe you dont understand what im saying. I DONT HAVE THAT FILE. MY AVAST isn't setup that way. In my program files, Avast is labeled Alwil Software , NOT AVAST SOFTWARE. Addedly, in Alwil software it is labeled Avast4, NOT AVAST. i placed your file in Avast4 still didnt work</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>are you on x64 machine? If so check here it may be "C:\Program Files (x86)"</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>No Help. I guess you don't fully understand the things i type. I repeatedly explained the difference .<br/>
Good day sir</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>Congrats to Qarizma for streamlining the install process, made it a lot easier.<br/>
<br/>
I have a question, can the self-defense module be turned back on after installing it? Or must it continue to be off for avast! to not identify itself as pirated and prevent you from updating?</t>

Re: Avast 2050 [Support]

<t>This tool only works if your Avast is installed in: \Avast Software\<br/>
<br/>
Regards</t>

I am having the same problem. Apparently it is now detected. I didn't even turn on the self-defense module or even boot into Windows 8 for the past 30 days and now this?

Also you can still update the virus definitions, just that you have to do it manually and download the definition from avast's website http://www.avast.com/download-update
