Bitlocker turned on by default in 25H2?

Not with the upgrade on my end, but it did turn off SMART APP CONTROL by default and to me thats GREAT

Microsoft strategy BRICKED

This little gem can be turned on and off, BUT !!!!
If its already been implimented on the original installation, such as a new Laptop or Desktop by the (Ill say Person) Operator of the installation certification it is part of the Mass license that Bitlocker (commonly called 100% Drive encryption) is implimented to prevent security breeches and such like, you know.
Like anyone in the real world would want every single file on their PC / Lappie to be fully encrypted, now heres the fun part.
The pride and joy you felt buying this new media frenzy tool, IT ISNT YOURS. You can ask the supplier for the encryption key, you can pay a technician to find it, you can pray to god above, but you wont find it.
WHY I hear you ask. Because like the license on the computer its held (Responsibly, of course for safety reasons by MICROSOFT. Why so they can say that your key is safe from hackers? so it is safe from viruses? Nope its so Microsoft can get all the lovely data, from AI Copilot, from your web browsing, from you program usage, from YOU. But of course this collection isnt intrusive and your DATA , that is YOUR DATA is only used by Microsoft to "Make your online life easier with AI's and Copilots and adverts tailored to your personal needs, (Whether you want them or not they will be thrown in the mix)
Ah I hear you say but I can close the ports in my firewall and the Microsoft firewall to stop this. Can you?, well with open access to your new computer, Microsoft can remotely turn it back on using AI, CoPilot and all the wonderful new features that mnake your life so easy.

So Bitlocker, the ultimate reason I can see for doing this is to Brick the drives of nauighty people that do naughty things with computers.

Getting rid of Bitlocker. first and foremost this is a process that WILL take time to remove, it isnt a thing to be taken lightly if its been activated by those lovely people you bought, im sorry leased, the new laptop from.

DEACTIVATION

click on start

click in the search and type in or copy and paste this. MANAGE BITLOCKER

It opens the window ive posted of my PC above.

At this point I will stress, warn etc

DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO STOP THE FOLLOWING PROCESS

DONT TURN OFF THE POWER.

DONT LET THE LAPTOP DO THIS ON BATTERIES, CONNECT THE CHARGER

THIS PROCESS TAKES A WHILE DEPENDANT ON DRIVE SPEED, SIZE etc SO NO IT WONT BE DONE IN 30 SECONDS COS I HAVE THE FASTEST MACHINE ON THE PLANET.

DONT START BROWSING AND PLAYING GAMES ON IT. JUST LEAVE IT TO DO THE TASK ALONE AND UNINTERRUPTED.

FAIL TO FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE MESSAGES AND ITS LIKELY YOUR PRIDE AND JOY WILL BE BRICKED IN ALL DRIVES.

DOnt atempt to do all the drives at once. Start with the main drive you boot off.
Then do each drive in turn and dont turn off the PC when you leave it .
Once the process has completed and its turned off on all your drives, that should be the end of it.


Try to copy a bootlockered drive from one disk to another say for changing to a better hard drive, itll Brick the new drive. Why because Microsoft want to sell you the encryption key to be able to manage your own machinery.

As you can see on the top image I use 4 drives, a primary M.2, A secondary M.2 for Programs and gaming, A third M.2 for coding work and finally a 4TB storage unit spinning platter Hybrid NAS Server drive. When I upgrade to windows 11, I owndered why it was taking so long to get first setup done. Well it kindly turned on Bitlocker without my knowledge and Encrypted all 4 drives. How nice of it. I tried to use a disk scanner on my work drive I had been working on in windows 10 and WHAT THE F*^& !!! My data was still in the same place but unreadable and definitiely not what had been written. Any program that uses LADS (Logical Address
Data SYstem, pretty much the equivalent of typing on paper) well thats all useless as the data has now been encrypted. Coutesy of those lovely people at Microsoft

But I own this machine, DO YOU!!!!

Ive had my eyes forced open on how intrusive and totally unfair all Microsofts policies are. They live for your DATA so they can sell advertising space to the world for a price larger than Windows ever made.

The amount of junk you install with Windows 11 is sizeable and if drive space is limited, say 500 GB then Microsoft want at least 200GB so they can store thier "Data Farms", damn did i just say that, I mean useful apps you will be needing on your jouneys around the net.

Gaming
Big Elephant time, yes decrypting, encrypting takes more processing power than most games out there and speed do suffer. Contact the people you bought the machine off and youll be told, your drivers need to be updated, you need to clean out your cache, you must empty your recycle bin, you must run disk cleanup. Everything apart from the one thing that is causing the issue in the first place. BITLOCKER.

Ok enough.

For those that feel that BITLOCKER is a thing "Id better not touch it, Microsoft say its good" then thats fine, you let them Watch what you watch, listen to what your listen to and say, read what you type. Dont believe me them do a search for a Baskey of Oranges on any search engine with any browser you have. Then watch the adverts for fruits and veg, shops online that sell fruit and veg etc etc ad nauseum.
