Browser redirect problem

When browsing a popular news site under windows 11 pro, there are first redirects to unwanted sites like chinese webshops, game, gambling or porno sites which did not happen under windows 10, controlled via browser setup. After 5 redirections the wanted site appears. This happens with all browsers Edge, Chrome, Opera, Brave. etc. Any solution? The problem is windows 11, is there a registry change required?

This is not a Windows 11 or registry issue.
If the redirects happen in all browsers, it strongly indicates adware, DNS hijacking, or a malicious service, not the OS.

Windows 11 does not cause browser redirects by design.

Check proxy settings, DNS configuration (including the router), startup items, scheduled tasks, and run a malware scan (Windows Security + Malwarebytes).

Redirection issues you can thank the embedded script for that.

... Vertical click on it, go down the list you need to find "RESTORE SETTINGS" and click on it.

When you visit sites you have previously been to it junks the old site settings and reloads it, so you will be asked about cookies and such. Its the easiest way to junk the auto suggestions.

The problem does not happen running under windows 10 with the redirects blocked in the browser settings. According to ChatGpt redirect are handled differently in windows 11 compared to windows 10. It occurs on 3 different windows 11 pc's , while on 2 different windows 10 pc's there is no problem after stopping redirect in the browser settings. A virus seems unlikely and I have checked with many tools for a virus.

Please excuse the outburst. I abhore AI and all it stands for.

Ok Malware is a little excessive a description. Redirection is a small script tucked away in a web page so when you visit it, the auto linking creates a tag in your browser folder. It doesnt tell you its done this, it just does it.

Most redirects are pretty harmless and can be delted by a simple Setting Reset as I mentioned before. Its been a while since Ive come across any distinctive MALWARE that involves being downloaded and installed, then sits in the background doing naughty things. This type of attack is best got rid of by MALWARE BYTES. It can be used MANUALLY for free or pay for it to look after your system.

IWorst Malware Ive ever come across was decades back if you tried to find it, your PC went into shutdown, if you found its folder and deleted it as soon as it was rebooted it redownloaded itself in the background and installed itself agin.

As mentioned in earlier posts, the getting rid depends on your skill level. Most users do a Browser settings reset, this cleans out all redirect scripts. If it persists, go get Malware Bytes

I suspect it is the website you are visiting doing this

Add uBlock Origin to the browser from the browser extension store and I suspect it will stop forwarding

I know these aren't AFFAsocial favorite programs BUT Malwarebytes Browser Guard works well for me. Blocks questionable sites, gives you the option of proceeding to so-so sites, but makes you jump thru hoops to access sites that are going to present problems. So to recap it keeps the ads from gumming up your browsing experience and blocks the crapware sites unless specifically instructed not to block them and it's free.
uBlock was the greatest for many years, I always used it. Raymond Hill is the creator of uBlock Origin. Ray seems to have stepped away and the program seems to have lost a little steam ever since Chrome started blocking it.
One thing you have to keep in mind is nothing including this forum is hosted for free, some sites content creators or reporters on news sites earn their living from those sites. Malwarebytes has a simple interface that allows you to allow ads on specific domains. I'll let those ads thru as long as the admin doesn't get carried away and bomb you with a crazy volume of ads. This is not to mention many sites block you if you are blocking ads.
