AI has moved from promise to reality — reshaping how organizations operate and make decisions. As today’s most advanced AI models intersect with growing economic pressures, the need for secure, high-performance, AI-ready Windows 11 PCs has never been greater. At Microsoft, we’re committed to helping businesses unlock the full potential of AI. Last year, we introduced Copilot+ PCs: the fastest, most intelligent and most secure Windows PCs ever built. Designed to leverage both local and cloud-based AI. We’ve been listening closely to our customers — especially IT decision-makers and business leaders — who are asking for more portable devices that empower employees to stay productive and secure, whether they’re in the office, at home or on the go. Today, we’re expanding the Surface for Business Copilot+ PC portfolio with two new additions: the
12-inch Surface Pro and the
13-inch Surface Laptop. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated NPU (neural processing unit) delivering 45 TOPs (trillion operations per second) of local AI processing power, and are designed for mobility — bringing the performance, battery life and security of a Copilot+ PC to even more portable and versatile form factors.
Surface Laptop for Business, 13-inch
Designed with mobility in mind,
the new 13-inch Surface Laptop delivers powerful performance in our most portable design yet. It’s thinner, lighter and features the longest battery life of any Surface device, with up to 23 hours of video playback and 16 hours of active web browsing
https://blogs.windows.com/#_edn1 helping employees stay productive on the move without worrying about outlets or chargers. The new Surface Laptop has up to 50% faster performance[ii], double the battery life[iii] and more USB ports than Surface Laptop 5, making it easier to stay productive from anywhere. Knowing that work needs to happen in a variety of environments, the brilliant anti-reflective touchscreen ensures readability in all kinds of lighting conditions, while the durable aluminum chassis — tested against real-world scenarios — provides the strength and reliability today’s workforce demands. Designed for Surface accessories like the STM Dux Shell Case and UAG Plyo Series Case offer drop-tested durability without adding bulk[iv]. The new Surface Laptop also delivers an exceptional video calling experience, highlighting why Surface continues to lead as the best endpoint for Microsoft Teams. It features an AI-enhanced 1080p front-facing camera — our best yet in a Surface Laptop — combined with Auto HDR, AI Noise Reduction and Windows Studio Effects to help employees show up clearly and professionally on every call. Plus, with up to 10 hours of battery life on a Microsoft Teams video call, employees can stay connected and productive even during long meetings.[v] With performance, portability and durability built in, the new Surface Laptop helps organizations equip their teams for the pace of modern work.
Surface Pro for Business, 12-inch
The new 12-inch Surface Pro is the thinnest and lightest Copilot+ PC yet — delivering 50% faster performance[vi], and double the battery life of Surface Pro 9. With up to 16 hours of local video playback and 12 hours of active web browsing, it helps teams stay productive from the first meeting to the last.[vii] It’s a device as versatile as your team, designed to adapt to almost any environment with features like an adjustable kickstand and a brilliant anti-reflective display. Accessories designed for Surface meet the needs of a wide range of industries and scenarios — including rugged cases, Point-of-Sale solutions and privacy screens from partners like Kensington, The Joy Factory and UAG.[iv] As a tablet, it’s designed to get real work done with Windows and Microsoft 365. Employees can dictate ideas with voice input, flip through reports with touch and instantly take notes with their pen[viii] — now stored and charged securely on the back of the device. The new Surface Pro also supports a full desktop experience for even more productivity. Attach the new Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard[viii] for an incredible typing and touchpad experience, and use a dock to connect dual 4K monitors[ix] and all the accessories teams rely on throughout the day. With laptop-to-tablet versatility and the ability to run full Microsoft 365 apps, Surface Pro can replace the need to provide employees with both a MacBook and an iPad.
Secure by design and by default
In line with Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative, security is our top priority. As Secured-core PCs, the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed to be secure by default. Windows 11 Pro, our most secure operating system yet, protects against phishing, malware, ransomware and other threats with advanced security tools and technologies. With Windows Hello for Business, organizations can better protect against credential theft using advanced authentication safeguards — providing better peace of mind. The new Surface Laptop comes equipped with a fingerprint reader, while the new Surface Pro uses facial recognition with the built-in Windows Hello Camera. Additionally, the Surface Pro features a built-in NFC reader that supports security keys like the YubiKey 5C NFC, enabling fast, passwordless sign-in with phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication. Beyond Windows, every layer of a Surface device, from chip to cloud, is maintained and protected by Microsoft, providing customers with ultimate control, proactive protection and peace of mind. This commitment to security, privacy and responsible device design is resonating with customers. According to survey respondents, Microsoft Surface, despite the small customer base represented in this survey, showed customer-perceived strength in security, privacy and ESG, taking the highest score within each of these categories of the IDC Enterprise PC Trust Perception Index, 2025.[x] Copilot+ PCs feature the Microsoft Pluton security processor, a chip-to-cloud technology embedded directly into the CPU, ensuring Zero Trust principles at the core. Pluton protects sensitive information like passwords, user identities and encryption keys, acting as a secure vault within the computer. Pluton receives regular updates directly from Microsoft, ensuring it always has the latest security features and protections against evolving threats.
Unlock efficiency with AI experiences
The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are Copilot+ PCs designed to help teams work faster and smarter. With features including Copilot on Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Copilot, these devices help your team quickly uncover solutions, summarize long documents, find relevant information and visualize data efficiently. One of the biggest challenges organizations face today is productivity lost due to the time spent searching for files, content and settings. The newly improved Windows search uses semantic indexing and local AI compute, so you can simply type what you’re looking for in your own words across files, photos and settings[xi]. This allows you to find and relocate images with ease — up to 70% faster compared to traditional search on a Windows 10 PC[xii]. For example, users can find images by typing “factory floor,” locate documents by describing their content like “Team budget” or adjust settings by asking to “fix your speakers.” This capability helps organizations reclaim valuable time and can reduce the number of help-desk tickets that IT departments need to manage.
Easier to manage
Our commitment to IT professionals goes beyond performance and security — we’re focused on making device management simpler, more intuitive and more efficient from the start. Both the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro now feature QR codes etched directly onto the device, making it easy for IT teams to scan and retrieve serial numbers at a glance. No more manually entering long codes or struggling to read tiny print — just a quick scan for faster, more accurate asset management. That same focus on simplicity extends to the Surface Management Portal in Microsoft Intune. Built to give IT teams detailed visibility into their Surface fleet, the portal enables proactive monitoring, streamlined updates and issue resolution before problems escalate. And now, with Security Copilot integrated into Surface Management Portal — available today in public preview — IT pros can ask Copilot to generate reports, uncover insights and get the information they need in seconds. It’s another example of how we’re designing Surface to save IT teams’ time and make managing devices easier at scale.
Embracing sustainability
In 2020, Microsoft committed to becoming carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro represent significant steps forward in this journey, as they are built with a focus on waste reduction and device repairability. Both the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed with sustainability in mind, featuring 100% recycled cobalt in their battery cells[xiii], reinforcing Microsoft's sustainable sourcing efforts to conserve rare materials. These devices are built for high performance and energy efficiency — exceeding industry standards. Surface Pro performs 48% better than the ENERGY STAR efficiency baseline, while Surface Laptop goes even further, outperforming it by 62%.[xiv] Additionally, these devices are designed with circularity in mind to reduce e-waste. Almost all components are designed to be easily replaced by skilled technicians or authorized service providers[xv], ensuring that the devices can be maintained and repaired efficiently.
Inclusive by design
At Surface, we believe that every employee deserves to work comfortably. That's why we design inclusive features on every device. Surface Copilot+ PCs combine software and hardware experiences, empowering users to personalize their devices while enabling IT admins to create customized solutions for each employee. For instance, the adaptive touch mode on the Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard and the new Surface Laptop 13-inch touchpad allows users with varying mobility and dexterity levels to personalize their touchpad settings to better suit their individual needs. The new Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard also features an optional bold keyset with larger font, higher contrast and backlighting, making the keys easier to see.[xvi] We also work with developers to unlock new ways for people to interact with their PC that matches their unique needs. For example, Cephable[xvii] is a powerful application that taps into the NPU on Copilot+ PCs and uses local AI processing to enable control through voice, head motions and expressions using the Studio Cameras, and Studio Microphones on the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro.
