If you want to install new games or software on a Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 computer, sometimes you must turn off the Firewall. Although the Firewall helps to protect the computer better, it still doesn’t seem to be expected. Turn off Firewall in Windows 10​

Step 1. Click on the Start menu or press Windows + S to open the search window, then enter the keyword Firewall => now click on Windows Defender Firewall in the results.

Step 2. Now the Windows Firewall window will appear, click the Turn Windows Firewall on or off option in the list of options on the left as shown below.

Step 1. Now you need to run Command Prompt as Admin, by pressing Windows + S => enter search with the keyword cmd => and right-click on Command Prompt => select Run as administrator.

Hmmm. That's like leaving the barn door open. If a program needs access you can let it thru manually. Any legit reasons the software instructions will let you know the ports it needs to function. I am trying to think of an instance when you would just drop the curtain so to speak and I can't think of any. There are folks out there running port scans looking for systems to exploit. On top of that if you are running warez, you had better be darn sure that the connections your system is making are legit. You could have had a payload dropped on you waiting for the day you open the door for it.
Yeah I am paranoid, but I have known or been at least aware of some not so decent people on the Net. Just be careful and honestly there is a reason why there is a firewall built into your operating system and it wasn't for Microsoft's benefit.
