Curious what software are you currently using for video format/compression work? I have been running into problems particularly with .avi container videos. I have noticed that many times that MediaInfo reports that at least the handbrake engine has done the actual encoding. The problem may lie in the GUI overlay that is sending the settings to handbrake since it is a rather complex program with many variables.
I have been messing with a few programs, Shutter Encoder is good for down and dirty quickies, however I try to take pride in my efforts. I still fall back on WonderShare UniConverter. It gives some pretty good results and it does allow for quality vs. speed of conversion. Certainly I can't be the only person who is running into questionable conversions. It's been over a decade since I have had access to raw source, those were the days my friends.
So if you don't mind, what are you using and why? I have an open mind and I haven't had time to discuss this for some time.
