Real details (the operation, the tip-line address, the Europol URL) are being repurposed in a fake-looking graphic, likely to get you to click something, reply, or feel pressured into "clearing your name." I'd treat it as not legitimate as presented — don't click any links or reply to any address in the image itself. If you want to check your exposure, go directly to Europol's site or the FBI's own domain by typing it yourself, not through this image.

Real FBI/DOJ communications don't look anything like this: no comic-book illustrations, no dramatic "surprised hacker at his desk"

#1 Law enforcement would NEVER send out crap like this.
#2 Law enforcement would never send out cartoons.
#3 This looks like some teenager concocted this.
#4 This is a civil matter. You would be initially contacted by an attorney representing the affected party.

1 - I was reach by 2 agents locally.

2 - Got an email in plaintext and dropped the text on Chatgpt and asked for caricature.

3 - It's legit, don't know if the case is going forward.

Like I said, typically it's a civil matter. This is why I always warn, once money starts changing hands, it's a whole different ballgame. You sell warez, particularly cracked versions from big software houses, you are in a heap of trouble.

Well technically if you look at the agreement of sale, you are granted a license to use the software. However you haven't been granted an ownership of that license, which means you cannot resale that license, just install and you that software on the number of YOUR systems the license grants, that's it.
When I started my job way back when, I was replacing the former manager who violated Microsoft's software agreement and cost my future employer $50,000 + court costs. I was told when the job was offered I had to give up the DVD forum and group, and learn the licensing laws, and hopefully never repeat the Microsoft incident. I kept us out of trouble for the 20+ years I worked there. You can't legally resell a license unless you are a retailer and the license has not been used.
That being said I still think that notification was bullshit.

No, is not commercial software aka warez. Is scripts developed by me on notepad. Shouldn't be any issues there.

The thing is i'm on 5k to 10k boards and one of the boards decided to go rough and start selling dbs and I was one of the members of that forum, posting ads to sell my scripts and be active. Now I have to answer as one of the gang members.
