Hi,
As my title indicates there is a issue of bandwidth leeching.I share my router with 3 other pc one is mine the other is my laptop and third one is my neighbour.I want to cut the third category off my bandwidth with them knowing that i have unplugged their lan cable (only trick up my sleeve to save me from this calamity) :) any software that would completely shut them off would be my saviour as my neighbours are not computer intellect they would not know any difference until there is a cross sign placed on their lan card.
And is there any way that i can know the third computer's IP address ?
Please also do tell me any techniques that would also help me shut them off without that cross sign appearing.

I think this is what your looking for...

Native protocol for traffic controlling, Quality of Service (QoS)

You could check QoS configuration options for your "router" or use windows2k8 as a "gateway" (for this you will need 2 NIC cards) and deploy Policy-based Quality of Service group policy to manage the workstations traffic bandwidth.

Note: In the policy, use DSCP Value to define traffic priority and use throttle Rate to limit the traffic bandwidth.

For more information:
Code:

Hope this helps ;)

Thanks for the help..Alpha
So this is where i have come so far

It would be a great if u help fill the form for me too :bebendoceva:
And again the repeated ques : Any software through which i can detect the all three connected PCs IP addresses, the reason for asking is that i can use eset's feature to limit the networking bandwith ;) ..

you could find this information, in your admin login of your network or also call your ISP :)

cheers mate!

1. what make and model of router do you have ?
2. do you know the admin login and password for your router ?
3. If you have this I can tell you how to block neighbor traffic or control bandwidth usage.

Not all routers have the capability you are looking for, but most do so if you can tell me make and model I can help

Great program. Nice and light. Provides the IP and MAC ID of all devices connected to your network.

Leeches, gotta love them, the smartest of all the choices available.

CHANGE THE ROUTER PASSWORD

And on the tab on the back of the router where it is normally stored, stick a tape over it with "GET YOUR OWN"

No hacking needed no scanner needed just change the password.

Yeah this is kind of confusing. They mention unplugging the LAN cable, but are unwilling to do so. Sounds like all the premise equipment was supplied by the ISP. In worst case scenario, look up the default user/password on line if that's the only way to gain access after a reset. IF it is a wired connection, they are going to have to go in after the reset and manually block access for the intruders MAC ID. Most routers will allow you to do so. Again Google is your friend, look up the router user's manual. Many times from the router's admin console it will guide the user thru a MAC ID ban. If it's a wired connection the only other option is to physically lock the router inside a cage to prevent tampering.
If it's wireless @Diguelo instructions should suffice, although a MAC ID ban should give you maximum privacy.

But when all is said and done. YOU DONT SHARE A CONNECTION Period.

If this guys doing somethig illegal, then guess whose house they would raid. Pull the plug on his cable, change your wifi password. Or as Mr Dog says block his access IP.
