Son in a way M/S didn't really win the browser wars. They hung on to the IE engine like a piece of steak to a junkyard dog. Good or bad it's officially gone as of March 9, 2021:
"We are announcing that the new Microsoft Edge will be available as part of the Windows 10 cumulative monthly security update—otherwise referred to as the Update Tuesday (or “B”) release—on April 13, 2021," the Microsoft Edge Team said."
Furthermore:
Starting March 10th, 2021, users who still use Microsoft Edge Legacy will be shown a notification at the bottom of the screen stating:
"This version of Microsoft Edge is no longer supported or receiving security updates. Download the new version of Microsoft Edge today."
There should always be room for two. Perhaps this may sway more users over to a Mozilla engine based browser. There are plenty of variants. Although discussed now and then in this forum, perhaps we need to start a thread devoted entirely to current browser alternatives and their evolution.
