Gone are the days of DDoS attacks and even encrypting fies for ransom. Cryptocurrency has been penetrated by law enforcement, it was a matter of time.
The real bucks are made stealing personal info, credit card info and info that can be used to create credit. I was a victim last year to the tune of $2,000+ USD. What screwed the criminal, this was a credit card I had used once, I saved it for on-line use. It went through a processor that is what the ocen does on the beach. I already wrote it up on line and their lawyers came after me but I had documented the entire transaction and sent it to the site where I posted the review and their lawyers backed off.
I got a couple of small packages with a small bottle of worthless pills shipped from two paces. I filed a report with the local, state and federal authorities and my CC security went after them as well. It wasn't easy but since it was so easy to do a controlled shut off the card and lay in wait for more charges were attempted. AFAIK they busted the SOB.
Point is, use PayPal, don't be joining a ton of sites, your info can be lifted quite easily, right haccx? I couldn't help notice all those email addys you added to some of your releases.
So forget DDoS, script kiddies and all the fun and games of the past. The money is made selling and using your info, so be careful where you share your info. Never forget Russian citizens are immune from prosecution of almost all Internet crime. Russia has no reciprocity agreements with other countries.

Yes, use PayPal or any payment processor that protects your id. Never use your credit card online or create a virtual one for one time purchase like privacy.com. Only use reputable stores or sellers.

I have never used my cellphone to purchase anything online for 20+ years. And never will. Though I have purchased Google cards for some apps in the past but never do anything other than use my phone as a phone and to watch my Movie Server when I am on the road. No downloads or other activity ever on the CELLPHONE, this is a good practice for sure.

Heck yes. Smartphones have more holes than Swiss Cheese and your phone can easily be breached and worse can be monitored without you being aware.
People will load any freakin' "cool" app they run across without understanding the consequences.

Cell phone with internet, of course its for everyday use. Being able to see one advert at a time, read 256 words on a screen at a time, have bad scrolling systems and of course my favourite, being able to pass on all your private detail to any passing sniffer in a hoody on the undeground or train.

Android is a nice simple OS, as for being secure, it sure isnt. Mr Dog has the right idea, dont allow your credit info onto your phone.

I work with a staff of over 2000 young people, all races, all colours, all with their credit cards in there phones and not half a clue what safety or security is. The "It will never happen to me cos I have the latest Gizmo XIIV from Whomakesit.com" Yep OK.

I have seen software rip the entire contents off a phone at a 3m range in just over the time it takes to travel 10 miles on a bus or train.

Security tips
=========
1. Turn off Bluetooth unless you are using it personally.
2. Turn off Wifi unless you are using it.
3. Turn off your Mobile Data unless your using it.

Paranoia is your friend. My phone has an alark if a link tries to grab any of my data while its in standby in my pocket and the source is pretty close by. Ive caught a few people trying to be clever and one that was the real deal. Not impressed and not likely to fail to report anyone attempting to grab the nopthingness that is my phone.

VPN Software packages are available and useful to have on your phone.
