What is a reputable torrent website to download programs from?
Nitro Pro is the best
1337x. It's been a little wonky lately, so have many cloudflare protected sites. You can trust the torrents posted there. 1337x also has partner sites listed.
I almost exclusively get my apps from TeamOS. It's a private torrent site but doesn't restrict new signups. Although, you do have to keep a ratio of at least 1:1. The site is geared towards operating systems but you'll find just about any app you can think of. I haven't had any issues with malware in the over two years I've been using the site but I choose not to download any files from newer users or files that are not on a torrent but instead stored on a file hosting site.

There are about 450 free open source programs at PortableApps.com which are best used with their platform and they can be run from a flashdrive.

I use teamos.xyz for almost all my software needs. It's a private torrent tracker but with unrestricted sign-ups. You have to keep your ratio up to 1:1 to prevent being shitlisted but being able to get the apps I want without fear of viruses makes all that seeding worth it.

I was always wary of Nord. That was a while back. At the time they were by far the most popular which makes them a good target or did at the time. No enforcement agency had challenged any VPN at the time. I made the mistake of going with Torguard initially for price. Anyway Nord is now part of a conglomerate I believe.
Bitdefender? I had it for a year, ended up putting it on GF's system. Too twitchy for want of a better term. I currently use Malwarebytes Premium. Can be a pain, but it's quite easily trained and it doesn't let anything slip by. Windows Security/Defender is a royal pain in the butt. Even if you try and go thru a complicated set of steps to allow an installation of a cracked program, it arms itself again after a short period of if you reboot.
I tried it but it's always looking if you are on a VPN using questionable methods. The 3 device limit is painful. I stick with Chrome remote and transfer unlimited file size using the cloud based function of my NAS. Works for me. I agree 100%. Raymond Hill and Jayro are my heros. I am really surprised that Raymond hasn't upgraded his program to the new standard. The Lite fork of his program doesn't cut it. I switched over to Malwarebytes Browser addon for Chrome, it does an okay job. You could surf fearlessly with uBlock Origin, MWB is almost as good so far. MWB is known for some falsies but easy enough to tell it it's alright.
Sipping my morning coffee. Gave up the drink after I saw it and drugs ruin so many of my classmates lives. They commited suicide, OD, died or kill others driving impaired and otherwise flush their lives and relationships down the toilet. Not saying that's you, single malt is way to expensive for a cheap buzz but in general, for many may be dancing with the devil. There has better ways of socialization than getting a buzz on in order to hang out. I love the outdoors and all the critters and have found find folks to hang out with with similar likes.
