Turn off antivirus protection in Windows Security

In case you were wondering...
Follow these steps to temporarily turn off real-time antivirus protection in Windows Security. However, keep in mind that if you do, your device may be vulnerable to threats.

1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Manage settings (or Virus & threat protection settings in previous versions of Windows 10).

2. Switch Real-time protection to Off. Note that scheduled scans will continue to run. However, files that are downloaded or installed will not be scanned until the next scheduled scan.

Don't forget to turn it back on. You may have to whitelist (make it an exception for) the program that you turned off Windows Security for in the first place. Windows Security is known for flagging most program cracks. If in doubt don't forget our friend virustotal

If you come to this forum I expect many are here to take control of their computer, especially against the ever intrusive Micro$haft. If you have to be warned about "threats" than maybe you should not be playing around.
ALWAYS check any patches, keygens, etc, by upping them to novirustotal.com.
There will always be a fair number of AV progs that report "danger." they are lazy and can't say "hack tool," but see "viruses" in anything out of the ordinary.
I trust Malwarebytes and Kaspersky, If they give my keygen a pass, then it's OK. These are companies that actually test things; too many others just buy a list.
I have my own preferred AV and anti-malware progs. But since i also like cracks and "liberated" wares, I decide who scans what and when. too many times Defender has come back on and deleted "dangerous" files; especially when copying from one drive to another.
I use NoDefender which works through Group Policy.

Try this:

1. Open the Windows Start menu.
2. Type Windows Security.
3. Press Enter on the keyboard.
4. Click on Virus & threat protection on the left action bar.
5. Scroll to Virus & threat protection settings and click Manage settings
6. Click the toggle button under Real-time protection to turn off Windows Defender Antivirus temporarily
7. Click Yes to confirm the change, if prompted.
8. Check if the issue with Acronis software is resolved.
9. To turn back on Windows Defender Antivirus, click the toggle button again.
10. If you do not turn on the real-time protection manually, it will automatically resume upon the next computer reboot.
