Lessening the blow.
Microsoft sell your data on to anyone that wants it, just like eve3ryone else on the net. They have to make a crust and satisfy SHare Holders who want their cut each month.
SO
Browsing the web, dont use Microsoft products. This of course is to say the Browser you choose sends feedback to the server on every click. I use Google Chrome mostly. Its a nice free and well thought out info transfer two way street.
Music & Video, VLC, mainly because of Codec issues and the fact it doesnt sit telling Microsoft what you watch.
Apache Office Pro does what MS Office does and a few more items as well without talking to Microsoft.
And so for coding, working out a code batch I use Microsoft Visual Studio. WHen it comes to final builds and stuff I have other software that doesnt talk to Microsoft and pass on my details.
Microsoft OneDRive pfffft, dont use it to BACKUP your PC, Always keep your backup on a local drive out of your machine. Most C Drive backups can be held on a 1TB drive. I store my backup on my own server in my home then it is safe in case of terminal crashes.
OneDRive received the uninstall treatment when it got installed to start with.
If you store your BACKUP on OneDrive online Microsoft have direct access to it.
